Rollerskating Rachael 09/27/2009
Aside from my love for acting, watching reality tv shows and all things purple... there is another obession of mine that has recently surfaced. I was a rollerskating fanatic during my teenage years and spent three straight summers teaching myself how to twirl, do tricks and skate backwards. I'm not sure if my mother even remembers seeing me at all during that three year period! Anyone who knows me from my college days remembers my rollerskates. While attending Mesa State College, I was able to showcase my rollerskating abilities during a production of the musical "Chicago." I was the rollerskating Statue of Liberty... and skating on a jampacked stage during an intense musical number is definitely a challenge. Fast forward to Thursday September 17th, 2009. Rollerskating Rachael makes another appearance! I had the fantastic opportunity to provide rollerskating entertainment, food and drink for the Customer Appreciation event at HenryGill Communications. I auditioned for the job with Mr. Gregory Wertsch of Clandestine Chef who catered the entire evening. Mr. Wertsch took the photo above during the event and while I was in the middle of serving his hotdogs-on-a-croissant. Ketchup and mustard added the finishing touches. I was able to piece together my classicly reminiscant carhop outfit from items found at various Goodwill and Arc thriftstores. The hat is still my favorite part... aside from my rollerskates. Thank you to the kind people at HenryGill Communications for allowing me to rollerskate through out their carpeted space and thank you to Gregory Wertsch for giving me another opportunity to break out my four-wheeled rollerskates and have some fun! |
